Cochlear Implants (CI) can be applied in adults and children, above the age of 12 months, with bilateral, severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss, who have not benefited by the use of powerful hearing aid.
The cochlear implant is an electronic device that replaces the function of the damaged or absent hair cells in the organ of Corti in the cochlea.
The electrode array is inserted in the cochlea during a delicate microsurgical procedure and it stimulates electrically the remaining auditory nerve fibres with the codified sound information.

The Cochlear Implant system is consisted of two parts: the exterior the sound processor and the interior the implant.
